Installing and Using Flash player

Can anyone please explain to me how to install this adobe flash player thingy? ( yes I have no clue what I am doing) trying to help my grandmother get to watch a few videos, and the website is telling me we need adobe flash player. However I thought I downloaded it and well it wasn't right. Everything I click on sends me somewhere new, I am only going in circles.  Any help is greatly appreciated!
