installing flash

i was installing the new flash player and had problems. got a helpful suggestion from mike m. about pulling up task manager to close internet explorer. after i did that it finished installing, gave me the geen checkmark like everything was done, but when i tried pulling up a news clip to make sure, instead of playing the clip it said must install new flash player! what gives?
