Installing Flash player 11

Question

I have windows vista and whenever I try to download the newest version of flash player it starts to download then says "Error:Failed to register" and when I try to sign in, it brings me to the sign in page for a split second then goes back to the previous screen. I am out of ideas of what to do. I do not want to uninstall the old flash player unless I am 100% sure the new one will work. PLEASE HELPPPP!

I don't understand the part about the "sign-in page"; where is that?

From the error message I understand that you are on Windows.

I would first try to run the offline installer from http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/installation-problems-flash-player-windows.html#main-pars_header
