Insufficient permissions

I am using Windows 10. I am trying to install Flash Player but I have got this message: A required file C:\WINDOWS\sysWOW64\Macromed\Flash\FlashplayerUpdateService,exe:5) could not be written to due to insufficient permissions. I have tried running it as administrator but the same happens. Can you help?

    I'm sorry, I missed the comment where you stated you have Windows 10. Those files are for the embedded Flash Player ActiveX used by Edge and Internet Explorer, and cannot be deleted.


    Please try installing the PPAPI plugin again, with McAfee disabled.

    Which browser are you installing Flash Player on?

    I'd like to review the flashinstall.log files for more information.  Please do the following:

    • In File Explorer, navigate to C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash
    • Make a copy of the FlashInstall.log file and rename the copied file FlashInstall32.log
    • Go to C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash
    • Make a copy of the FlashInstall.log file and rename the copied file FlashInstall64.log
    • Upload FlashInstall32.log and FlashInstall64.log to cloud.acrobat.com/send using the instructions at How to share a document and post the link to the uploaded files in your reply

    Thank you.  The insufficient permissions error is due to an Access Denied error on one of the required files.  I am seeing references to McAfee in the install log.  It's possible McAfee is locking the file and preventing the access.  Can you do the following:

    1. Download the Flash Player uninstaller posted at Uninstall Flash Player for Windows
    2. Download the Flash Player installer posted at https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer
    3. Disable McAfee
    4. Run the uninstaller downloaded in step 1
    5. Launch File Explorer and navigate to C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash
    6. Ensure all files, except for FlashInstall.log have been deleted.  If not, manually delete them.
    7. In File Explorer navigate to C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash
    8. Ensure all files, except for FlashInstall.log have been deleted.  If not, manually delete them.
    9. Reboot the system
    10. Disable McAfee
    11. Run the installer downloaded in step 2
