I have the same problem with my site. So frustrating, especially when I know nothing about coding or web apps. So glad to find this forum. Hope to get fixed soon.

Hello c......Please start a thread (your own discussion) and provide your operating system info, browser version info and whether you are the Administrator. Also list your Anti-Virus program.

Please don't reply to this thread, you'll need your own in order to receive help.

OS: Win XP Pro SP3 32 bit, all updates from ms update are applied

    IE8: 8.0.6001.18702

    Firefox: 3.6.8

    Opera: 10.61 (build 3484)

    Chrome: 5.0.375.127

Well, i have a similar issue here, but with a twist: both IE8 and  Firefox won't recognize that flash is loaded but Opera and Chrome  recognize it and they work perfectly.

Before upgrading to flash v10.1.82.76 i had v10.1.53.64 and that was working correctly in all browsers.

I tried to downgrade to the previous version using the uninstall utility, i cleaned up the entire C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash folder and installed the 10.1.53.64 version again, however this time it behaves exactly as 10.1.82.76: the flash plugin is not loaded at all in IE8 and Firefox but works correclty in chrome and opera

I tried disabling the antivirus completely (norton av 2010 ver 17.7.0.12) and restarted the browsers, but it didn't help

Looks like the install for 10.1.82.76 has blacklisted / nuked something that the uninstall utility won't clean up

In Chrome it seems that there are two flash plugins loaded, one provided by google and the one from the system, even so, flash playback works correctly:

    Shockwave Flash - Version: 10,1,82,76
    Description:Shockwave Flash 10.1 r82
    Location:C:\Program Files\Google\Chrome\Application\5.0.375.127\gcswf32.dll

    Shockwave Flash - Version: 10,1,82,76
    Description:Shockwave Flash 10.1 r82
    Location:C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash\NPSWF32.dll

since then i have managed to force Firefox to load the flash plugin the hard way: i copied the NPSWF32.dll file from the C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash directory to the main firefox plugins directory, C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\plugins

when loaded this way the plugin is accepted by firefox and shows up in the available and enabled plugins list. It even seems to works correctly so far.

Internet Explorer on the other hand still keeps refusing to load the flash plugin.

No I haven't solved mine. Deleting files and cookies worked a couple of times, but now I back to the same situation. I uninstalled IE 8 but IE7 was just the same, so I reinstalled IE8. I did notice that the latest version of IE8 is dated 10th August, which was about the time when I started having problems I think.

Hi Jean, I havent' been over to your thread lately but will check in. So IE7 didn't help. That IE8 had the 8/10 date is interesting, since that is the Windows Patch Tuesday update. I know it is frustrating when you can't find the problem.

I asked mechfishy if he had a screensaver, so you might want to check that.

    Thanks,

I have a question concerning sort of the same problem. I just got microsoft office 2010 and

loaded it on the computer...not sure if it had anything to do with it or not but now I can't access adobe flash player. I checked

under my add and remove programs and it was there so I uninstalled it then went back to

the website and reinstalled it. Nothing still. I can't find it anywhere on my computer except when I go to Set program defaults on the start bar and select add or remove programs and it will then show up. It is not under my programs, accessories, or anything. I use to have it now I don't. I read below that you were looking for the files in the macro folder and these are all I have:

    Flash 10i.ocx

    Flash Install

    Flash Util10i_ActiveX

    Flash Util10i_ActiveX.dll

    genuinst

    KB913433

    Set12D.tmp

And that's all I have. Any insight?

    Thanks JBCJBC

Hi jbc, Go back to your Flash folder and right click that set12D.tmp file and Remove/Delete it. I have no idea why that is there. It must have been there and didn't get Uninstalled. Otherwise your Flash files are correct.

Using IE go to Tools, Manage add ons and find the Shockwave Flash Object and make sure it is Enabled.

Flash Player is listed in Add/Remove. The files are in the Flash folder and the Shockwave Flash Object is in your browser.

That is all there is to see. After you do the above, you can test here at the following site. You should be able to see the animation and it will tell you what version of Flash Player you have Installed.

    http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/

If this doesn't solve your issue, then please start a thread and be sure to include your OS/browsers etc.

    Thanks,

okay I did all that you said. And deleted the set12Dtmp file.

But do you know why I can't find it on my computer anywhere to open? It's not under the start menu and can't find it anywhere else. The video played correctly. I've tried opening a file (video) that I was uploading to you tube and for some reason it opens in another program that it's never opened in before. It always opened in Adobe before. Went to the settings to open the video with another program to select the flash player and it's not on that list either. It's like I have the program but can't find it anywhere to open it. I was going to try to open it and then set it as a default player but I just can't find it. Any ideas on that? If not, thanks for all of your help anyway! I greatly appreciate it! You saved me from tossing the computer out the window! Haha!

    OS: vista home premium 32bit

    Internet Explorer: 8.0.6001.18943

    Newest version of Flash player:10.1.82.76

Other than these specific details, the previous discussion with jeantodd is nearly identical, until the very end of the discussion.

It seems that IE is pretty unstable to use here at this forum.
