Question

Intranet .swf files will not play in any 3rd-party viewer

Our company produces hundreds of .swf movies per month, and we use MPC-HC and Swiff Player during our quality control process because of their ability to view frame numbers. Both of these rely on the local Flash installations—they don't distribute Flash versions with the software. As of the last Flash release (14.0.0.179), we cannot play any .swf files that are on network shares in either MPC-HC or Swiff Player. Adobe Media Player, Firefox, and IE open the files just fine from the remote machine, but none of the proprietary viewers will. If I copy the file to a local drive, it opens fine in all the proprietary viewers.

Everything worked fine last week...

I rolled everybody back to version 14.0.0.145, and everything works fine. This should be fixed before future releases!

Another note or two: The IE version is 14.0.0.176. These 3rd-party tools rely on the ActiveX version, not the Firefox version.
