Is Adobe Flash 11 good for business reports?

I was tasked with offering suggestions on improving existing formatted business reports. The client is using Flash 11, which appears to be woefully outdated and may lead to security vulnerabilities easily hacked.

If Flash 11 is NOT good for business reports, what application or version should I recommend using?

    The only version of Flash Player that anyone should be using is the latest version.  Almost every update to Flash Player contains security changes -- mostly proactive mitigations, that serve to protect end-users and organizations from both exploits discovered in the wild, and proactively, from potential problem areas identified through intelligence about emerging threats and academic and industry research.

    Your organization is missing literally thousands of security fixes to Flash, and is vulnerable to many, many exploits that have been fixed for years, and are available to even novice hackers in off-the-shelf exploit kits.  That's a situation that you should remedy ASAP.

    Also, as both Adobe and the major US browsers have announced an end of life for Flash Player, there will be an ever-increasing amount of friction for users in your organization using Flash Player (especially in current browser versions, which you should also be using as a rule).

    The smart move is to start migrating your Flash-based reports to other technology (HTML and JavaScript, PDF) that's going to both continue to work seamlessly, and will meet your business requirements.  You should probably start doing that soon.

    If you guys use centralized software administration, you might find our system administration guide helpful.  Ideally, you'd just push the update out to your organization and leave it configured to keep itself updated.  It might mean that we break an internal tool once in a while, but that pales in comparison to the pain of a post-breach cleanup or extortion situation.
