In 2018, US company Artix Entertainment released a launcher for their browser games that contains an old version of Flash Player. Is this legal? And could there be security vulnerabilities, since it's only transferring data to and from their servers?
It seems too convenient given the uproar about Flash dying. I'm worried about installing stuff like this.
Adobe requires distribution license any time someone includes Flash Player in their product (or distributes Flash Player within their enterprise). This license needs to be updated yearly. If they have a very old version of Flash Player, it's possible they're not current with their distribution license.
There is a risk installing an old version of Flash Player as it can contain known security risks that were fixed in subsequent releases.
