Does anybody know when would Flash Palyer (and Flash) be able to manage JPEG2000 format?
I was looking about any news about this but I haven't found anything.
In Adobe Photoshop you may install JPEG2000 plug-in.
I guess it may desirable - Flash Player handling JPEG2000.

Perhaps when JPEG2000 actually becomes well accepted .. very few people use
it (despite it being much better technically).

Being able to load JPEG2000 into Flash would be reasonable to expect though,
as they support a lot of image formats already. Until the do, just open
your JPEG2000 image in your favorite image tool and save as PNG instead.
There is no disadvantage in doing that AFAIK.

Adobe may decide to support JPEG2000 for dynamic loading, as the higher
level of compression would reduce bandwidth. But I don't see that happening
soon (and it would require Flash Player to have JPEG2000 decompression code
in it, which would make the player even bigger again). The smaller file
size for dynamically loading would be the only advantage to adding support
    for JPEG2000 in the player

I think it would be a long while (if ever) before JPEG2000 images could be
kept as-is in a SWF (for a long time, and still currently, its only JPEG or
zipped bitmap images that be in a SWF)
