Lag in Windows Vista

Hi all, I got this new computer and have been having problems with flash ever since..

First, was just wondering if the issue of lag in flash games was solved.. I'm sure it's not a browser thing, since it lags in both IE and Firefox. It's happened from the very first moment I got the computer (nothing was installed on it).

Appreciate the help! 😄

and k.. found two more things...

Saved a .swf file and my computer didn't know what to use to open it. Is that normal? When I opened it and clicked the "use web service to identify which program to use it" option, it just took me to the download adobe flash page.. weird. Anyway, so I download the program SWF Opener. I open up the swf file.. and it still lags! So.. I'm guessing the problem has nothing to do with internet/internet browsers.
    Any ideas.. please =/

Oh and I guess I should also include.. whenever I go to a page, there's always a brief 1/2-a -second or so where it doesn't detect flash, and then it does (e.g. A flash advertisement displays as a regular still picture, then changes into a flash object).

Or, on some sites, it'll say in text "You do not have flash installed", then it just changes to the flash object.

oh, and while flash objects do show up, whenever I go to the download flash page, ( http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/flash/trigger/en/2/index.html), it asks me to "Click here to install the following activex control, blah blah etc".
Then the dialog boxes pop up.. and it asks me to restart - so it seems like everything's already installed. But like I said, if I just go and test the download page, everything starts over again. I'm not sure.. is this what's supposed to happen? Cause I remember that on my old computer, which was a lot older, the flash installed movie would just play if you already had it.

    thanks :)
