Microphone not staying on when broadcasting

Question

HiI'm having issues with my built in microphone on my Mac when broadcasting. It works on my computer and other programs like Skype. It turns on when I go to check the cam/mic in the flash player settings when broadcasting, but then it immediately turns off once I close the settings window. I have Chrome and Safari and the same thing happens on each. I made sure I have the most recent versions of the browser, and restarted my computer. I've read several troubleshooting guides but nothing has fixed it. Any help would be appreciated.
