Question

Need help: Not sure if Flash downloaded; IE says yes, but doesn’t work on Web

Hello,

I have a problem. I downloaded Flash, but it's not working on my computer. (I

have Windows 7, Internet Explorer 11 and Norton Security.)

On Jun. 20, I went to download Flash on the Adobe web site. When asked to

download Flash, I clicked the "Run" button.

I thought I did everything right, until I went online. Every page with video told me

that I needed the most recent version of Flash, which I thought I had.

I tried figuring this problem out myself -- by seeing if my computer had Flash

installed on it.

I tried Adobe first, using this link: https://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player.html.

Adobe checked my computer and said either Flash is not installed or not

enabled.

Well, I thought, maybe it's installed and just not enabled.

With help from Adobe (https://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/install-flash-

player-windows.html), I checked Internet Explorer to see if Flash was installed or

enabled. And according to my browser, I did download Flash Shockwave Object

18.0.0.160 on Jun. 20, and Flash was enabled on my browser.

I'm a little confused. IE says I got Flash. But it's not working. What do I do?

Matthew

First, confirm that ActiveX Filtering is configured to allow Flash content:

    https://forums.adobe.com/thread/867968

Internet Explorer 11 introduces a number of changes both to how the browser identifies itself to remote web servers, and to how it processes JavaScript intended to target behaviors specific to Internet Explorer. Unfortunately, this means that content on some sites will be broken until the content provider changes their site to conform to the new development approach required by modern versions of IE.

You can try to work around these issues by using Compatibility View:

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/internet-explorer/use-compatibility-view#ie=ie-11

If that is too inconvenient, using Google Chrome may be a preferable alternative.

Thank you for solving my problem. I turned off Active X filtering, as you suggested, and it worked. I now can view videos again on Hulu and everywhere else. Thanks.
