Need to totally remove Adobe Flash Player from computer

Hello,

This my first time using this forum. I hope this where to put this.

I have been having a big problem with Flash player.

I got a message that there was an update for Adobe Flash Player.  i clicked on it to install it. I had version 10.1.53.21RC2 at the time.

When it downloaded and installed it quit with an error message that said I had a newer version installed.  Which I did not.

I have gone thru all the things to remove it that I can find in this forum.

I have used the removal tool many times in Safe Mode and normal mode. Restarted and reinstalled and keep getting the same error message, along with a few others that I can't remember right now.

I have run the uninstaller and the debugger and tried to install.

I have it installed, but everytime I go to AOL to log on I get the installer pop up to install again.

I use AOL most of the time.

I have deleted all of the temp files, used the Disc Clean up Glarys Utilities and Advanced System Care also.  I have used CCleaner to remove Adobe Flash Player also.

I have gone to Windows Explorer to find it and have removed everything that is there also.  There is always Files that are labeled Conflict and the Adobe Flash Player installer in there that I remove also.

No matter what I do - I have the same problem .........

If I can totally remove it and start over it would be great!!!!!!!!!!!!

Any ideas would be appreciated.........

Thanks -- MAKRLM --------

You mention Windows Explorer, so we can assume that you use Windows.  It would be useful to know what version.

Anyway, I am not sure that I understan your problem 100%.  You write that you removed Flash Player using the FP uninstaller, but you still get a message that you need to update Flash Player?

Can you tell us what you have in folder %WINDIR%\system32\Macromed\Flash (%WINDIR% usually is C:\Windows)?

    Hello,

I forgot to tell you that I have Win XP SP3, 32-bit.

Dell Dimension 8300, 120 gig hard drive, 70%free, 1 gig ram, Intel Pentium

    4 3.0 gig processor.

Attached is what is in the Macromed\Flash Folder ..

I hope it comes thru for you I wanted to copy and paste it, but they went

    thru as an attachment.

The Flash Util 10h folder is for version 10.1.r53.

I do have the r53 version installed. But I always get the Install Pop up

the wants me to Install a newer version (.64). every time I open up AOL. I

have to go to Windows Explorer and remove a bunch of "Conflict" folders.

They are the FP_AX_CAB_Installer.exe,swflash.inf and the FP_AX_CAB_Installer

for r53 but says version 53.64.

The reason I want to totally Uninstall is so I can install a clean copy

that won't keep bugging me that is the latest version..

    Hope this helps..

    Thanks a lot .......

It looks like the attachment did not come through.  You can paste into the forum editor (text only) by using the standard keyboard shortcut Ctrl+V.

Anyway, I believe the AOL browser is similar to Internet Explorer, i.e. it uses ActiveX controls.

Download this installer http://www.adobe.com/go/full_flashplayer_win_ie, save it to disk, then close all browser windows and run the downloaded installer.
