New Flash Player does not install using Group Policy

Hello,

We use Microsoft Group Policy to install Flash Player on all of our systems, but version 23.0.0.207 will not install. It does not show up in Add/Remove Programs like some of the reports I have seen. I can install the MSI manually, but we have too many machines, so that is not an option. I have seen that others are having the same issue. Is there a fix for this? Thanks.

Hi,

Yes, we've received some reports recently about Flash Player and GPO installation issues.  We're investigating.  To aid in the investigation, please provide the following information:

  • Does the Flash Player ActiveX GPO install succeed for some users but not others? If so, what percentage fails?
  • Reproduce the issue while creating a verbose MSI log file with additional debugging option enabled (options x & v)
  • Provide the FlashInstall.log file saved at C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash from an impacted system.  If this is a 64-bit OS, the FlashInstall.log file from the C:\WIndows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash directory is also required.

The verbose MSI log file and FlashInstall.log file(s) MUST be from the same machine for the same installation attempt.

What is the operating system of the impacted system?

Upload all log files to cloud.acrobat.com/send using the instructions at How to share a document  and post the link to the uploaded files in your reply.

Thanks.  I will check into creating the log files and uploading them. The issue happens 100% of the time. It did not start until the latest version came out. Thanks.

  • What Server version are you using?
  • What Windows updates, if any, were installed since the last time GPO deployment was successful?
