New Twist on YouTube, Flash Player Problem?
Why is that videos on the YouTube site won't run under IE8, but run just fine under IE6?
Specifically, when I try to run a YouTube video at youtube.com, I get the following message:
"Hello, you either have Javascript turned off or an old version of Adobe's Flash Player. Get the latest Flash Player"
According to http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/welcome/ I'm currently running Adobe Flash Player 10.0.32.18 and Adobe Shockwave Player 11.5.1r601. Furthermore, "Manage Add-ons" shows that Shockwave Flash Object 10.0,32.18 and Shockwave Active X Control 11.5.1 are "currently loaded" and "enabled"
This problem arose approximately two weeks ago, with no warning. Until then, videos ran on the YouTube site under IE8 with no problem.
Since then, I've googled and tried every possible solution I could find, with no success. However, I discovered that if I uninstall IE8, my IE browser rolls back to IE6, and the problem goes away; i.e., videos that can not be viewed under IE8 run fine under IE6.
I'm hoping that someone with more tech saavy that I possess can explain why this disconnect between IE8 and IE6, and perhaps point to a possible solution to the problem, which many users seem to be having.
Thanks in Advance!
NOTE: Videos on the YouTube site run fine under Firefox. Also, embedded YouTube videos on other sites run fine under IE8
