Obsolete flash player keeps trying to install

Flash player 15.0.0.152 ActiveX (Internet explorer) tries to install every 2 or 3 days. After several minutes it gives up and informs me that the installation failed. When it is trying to update my computer slows down noticeably. Chrome is my default browser and it has the latest FP add-on. I would delete the add-on from IE, but when I run IE and click Tools/Manage Add-ons, FP is not on the list. How can I stop this annoying waste of time and resources?

Hi AquaChem,

What I suspect is happening is that you have Flash Player 15.0.0.152 ActiveX installed and it's attempting to perform an auto-update to update to the latest version.  If you don't use IE, you can just uninstall Flash Player (from the Control Panel) or update it manually.  If you do use IE update Flash Player for IE manually To update manually, launch IE and navigate to https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer.  Download the installer and proceed with installation once the download completes.
