Playing swf's on desktop PC

Dear all

I've recently had to rebuild my PC and reinstall all my programs. Since doing so, I can't play .swf files locally on my PC. I'm getting the usual 'Windows can't open this file' dialog box and when I search for a program the Flash Player is not shown in the list. I've also tried downloading the Shockwave Flash Player and this doesn't help.

I do have Flash Player installed, which plays swf's in my browser, but can't open them locally. I'm running Win 7 Professional.

I'm sure this is a simple thing, but could someone advise please?

Many thanks

    Hi MDraper,

Flash Player is a browser plugin, it is not used to play SWFs locally.  You'll need the standalone Flash Player projector to play SWF files locally.  The projector file is posted at Adobe Flash Player - Debug Downloads.  Be sure to not download the content debugger projector as this is for content developer to debug their code.
