Question

Poor FPS when video is played Fullscreen

MacBook Pro, 2.66GHz Core i7 with 8GB of RAM

OSX 10.6.6

Flash version 10,2,152,26

I have hardware acceleration turned on.

When videos play in a window, they seem to have decent a decent frame rate (as in, the frame rate isn't visible, everything appears smooth so at least 25FPS). Even if I zoom the video in safari using command+ the framerate still seems decent.

As soon as I click the full screen icon, the frame rate drops and everything stutters. I don't know for sure but I would guess somewhere around 10-15FPS.

Is this a known issue or am I the only one having this problem?

Any suggestions on how to fix?

Hi, The latest version of FP is 10.2.152.32, you may want to update to that since many websites have also. I know youtube has.

You could also UNcheck the hardware acceleration and see if that makes a difference.

You may want to go to this site: http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/. Right click on the Flash logo, Settings,
then UNcheck the hardware acceleration in Display Settings.

See if that works for you.

I updated to the latest point released and tried with and without hardware acceleration. Full screen video playback is still horrendous.

I backdated flash player to version 10.1.102.64 and full screen video performs much better, which is odd. Something must have changed between that version and 10.2.x which caused full screen video performance to suffer dramatically...

Hi, There is a problem with Youtube and Flash Player. I don't know whether you can see the Sticky that is at the top of the

Flash Player Forum Discussions or not. Following is what is going on.

Troubleshooting Flash Player Video Issues Flash Player 10 and later can use your system’s graphics hardware to accelerate video decoding. Flash Player 10.2 and later can also accelerate video presentation on some sites, accelerating all aspects of video playback.

If you are experiencing video playback issues in Flash Player, it is possible that your graphics card driver software has incompatibility issues. Please follow the steps in the following article to troubleshoot these issues and help provide Adobe with information that can be used to improve Flash Player.

If you can use that link and follow it, that would be helpful. The Flash Player Team are trying to document the problems that various users are having. They and Youtube are working on this and any help provided them if you can, will speed things along.

P.S. There are a couple of things you can do to see if it helps in that link also. Since you have a Mac, they would be very interested in your info, since we've had only a few.
