Pop-up video links not working on BBC and other sites
Using Win7 x64 with IE8 (in 32 bit version) and Media Player 12 and freshly reinstalled version 10 Adobe Flash Player.
Embedded video on sites like the BBC work fine. Seems there is another type of video link called pop-ups and they won't work on BBC, CNN etc (they all use flash too far as I can see):
BBC help: "The pop-up player launches in a separate window and requires Real Player or Windows Media Player..."
The BBC help page tells me to check my flash setting for allowing third party access to my hard drive, which I've ticked. I've exempted the sites in IE8's pop-up blocker and Shockwave Flash Object is enabled in add-on manager. I read somewhere that there can be old killbits in the registry but that's way too out of my knowledge zone to figure out alone.
I've installed the Windows 7 codec pack.
Any pointers would be appreciated. WMP works fine for internet radio and all its other stand-alone stuff. It just doesn't launch when i click these particular links. Is it WMP, flash, or the Windows fairies?
