pop up warnings

Hello.  I am not very computer savvy. Please bear with me.  I brought my mother´s laptop from Spain, where she lived, to the U.S., where I live.  I have reset it for our region and language.  but still get the spanish website page when I enter www.adobe.com .  The reason I am writing is that very often, every 15-20 minutes or less, I recieve a pop up saying " Warning:  Unresponsive Plug in.  Shockwave Flash may be busy or may have stopped responding .  You can stop the plug in now or you can continue to see if the plug in will complete."

Please tell me what this means and what I need to do.
