Problem Downloading & Installing Flash Player

Hi,

I'm hoping someone will be able to help me. I've been trying to download and installing the flash player 8 from this webpage:

http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/triggerpages_mmcom/flash.html

Instead of a download/install starting, the window at the top (supposed to be showing a video/picture after installing) shows quotation marks - "

Is there something wrong with the download right now, or is it something I am doing wrong?

Thanks for any help you can give me,

Nick

P.S. I am using a Windows XP computer and my main browser is Internet Explorer.

I filled in the support form on adobe's website and they were very helpful. They emailed back, and after making sure that I had no old copies of flash player told me to go to http://www.adobe.com/go/full_flashplayer_win_msi where I could download the installer. It seems to be working now.

I just tried the http://www.adobe.com/go/full_flashplayer_win_msi link again and it seems to be working fine - goes straight into a download of the file. Perhaps you have a pop-up blocker or a firewall blocking it?

    Having the same problem here.

It seems that fpdownload.macromedia.com is down.
    It resolves to
    Name: e526.d.akamaiedge.net
    Address: 84.53.150.70
And has a number of aliases:
    Aliases: fpdownload.macromedia.com, fpdownload-marc.wip3.adobe.com
    fpdownload.macromedia.com.edgekey.net
None of them seem to work and the Adobe public FTP does not contain the Macromedia installer files.

I'm a bit frustrated now because I don't have Flash / ShockWave at all.
