Problem installing Flash Player with IE7

I have attempted to download and install Adobe Flash Player 10 on my machine running IE7.  It goes through all the steps without any error messages.  I get to the browser window where it shows a movie to prove that the installaion was successful and there is nothging there.  I go to add/remove programs on Control Panel and there is no Flash Player on the program list.  I have followed all the tech support steps relative to Active X, Pop-up blockers and Internet Security to no avail.  No error message and it says that the installation went fine, but no Flash Player.  Is there a way to download an executable and run it outside of IE7?

Thanks

Rob

Hello, I am running I.E.6. You might go to Tools>manage add/ons and look for Shockwave Flash which is an active X add on. Hi-light it and

click on the box that says Update Active X, when it is finished, reboot and see if that helps.

Got as far as highlighting it, but there was no box that said update Active X???

It should have been located at the bottom right. It is grayed out until you hi light  Shockwave Flash.

If that didn't work, then do this. Go to Tools, click on Internet Options, look for Settings, click on it, look for View Objects. This opens

the window "Downloaded Program Files" This shows your Active X add ons. Find Shockwave Flash, right click on it and this opens a small window that shows "Update, Remove or Properties" Click on Update, when completed, close and Reboot.
