Problems installing NPAPI and ActiveX

I downloaded 24.0.0.194 NPAPI and ActiveX msi from the download site. They have a content creation date of 12/16/16.

when I launch the NPAPI is says I need admin rights. When I launch the ActiveX it starts to install but then says I need the install files to an older version of Flash. Only the PAPI one installs properly. Even when I uninstall all versions of Flash on the computer the ActiveX still says I need the msi for an older version.

I then went back and downloaded the exe files for NPAPI and ActiveX and those work fine. I've already created my SCCM workflow around the MSI and don't want to change it up becuase there are problems with the MSI.

Anyone else having these problems?

Hi,

This is the first report I recall of this behaviour with version 24.0.0.194 (released on 10-Jan), which indicates the issue is most likely with your system configuration.  If it was an issue with the installers we would've received many more reports on it.

Please provide the following information:

  • What version of Flash Player is currently installed on the system, if any?
  • Operating system you're installing Flash Player on.
  • Are all 3 player types (activex, npapi, ppapi) being installed on the same system or on different systems?
  • How are you installing the files?  Are you double-clicking on the installer file, or are you deploying via SCCM?
  • Does the user installing the files have Admin permissions (this has been a requirement for a long time).
  • Post a screenshot of the NPAPI and ActiveX error dialog windows.  See How do I attach a screenshot?
  • Provide MSI log file with verbose logging and extra debugging options enabled (v and x options)
  • Upload the 2 MSI log files to cloud.acrobat.com/send using the instructions at How to share a document and post the link to the uploaded files in your reply.

Thank you in advance.
