Problems updating to latest version and running Flash Player on Windows 7

OS Windows 7  Internet Explorer (latest version)

Got a 'reminder' to update to latest release of Flash Player about 10 days ago which I duly followed up.   On accessing BBC Sports pages and other video clips I found that I was being prompted to install Flash Player.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled Flash Player so many times since then that I don't know whether I'm coming or going.  This after noon I carried out a complete uninstall, using Revo Uninstaller to mop up any traces of Flash.  Then I installed a recent archived version (10.x.x.x) of Flash Player, but got exactly the same result as with the latest release.  I'm not a techno nerd, but with basic understanding I can usually carry out bread and butter operations on my PC, but this time I have to admit defeat.  I know I'm not alone in experiencing these problems.  Is anyone looking into the problems this update appears to be causing users of the software?

Hi geoffpowers,

Many browsers are blocking older versions of Flash Player, so I wouldn't install anything too old, especially not anything from version 10.

With that said, after installing the latest version, if you continue to experience issues, please see the following tech notes:
