Problems with Flash

I have recently upgraded my Dell laptop from Windows 7 to 10 but cannot play the radio or video clips in Internet Explorer. When I try I get an error message that says I need to install Flash. When I troubleshoot I get the message 'Flash Player is integrated with Internet Explorer in Windows 10. You do not need to install Flash Player.' I am advised to enable Flash Player and disable ActiveX filtering. When I check, Shockwave flash Object is enabled and ActiveX Filtering is disabled. I am still unable to play the radio or video clips via Internet Explorer. Can anyone help please ? Thanks, Steve

    First, confirm that ActiveX Filtering is configured to allow Flash content:

    Internet Explorer 11 and Edge introduce a number of changes both to how the browser identifies itself to remote web servers, and to how it processes JavaScript intended to target behaviors specific to Internet Explorer. Unfortunately, this means that content on some sites will be broken until the content provider changes their site to conform to the new development approach required by modern versions of IE.

    You can try to work around these issues by using Compatibility View:

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/internet-explorer/use-compatibility-view#ie=ie-11

    If that is too inconvenient, using Google Chrome may be a preferable alternative.

    I have followed your suggestions and since adding bbc.co.uk to the Compatibility View in IE 11 I am able to play the radio. However, I still cannot play the video clips on the bbc home page as I still get an error message that flash player is not installed. 

    The video clips play ok if I log in as administrator or if I use my standard user account with Firefox or Chrome. Video clips in YouTube play ok as well.

    Is there anything else you can suggest to resolve this issue with Windows 10 and IE 11 please ?

    You're running into another issue that we've reported to Microsoft, but which we don't know how to reproduce or fix.  On some Win10 systems, the Flash Player that's embedded in IE and Edge doesn't work in Standard User mode.  Because Flash is baked into IE and Edge by Microsoft, it's clear that there's something going on underneath us, but we don't really have the tools necessary to figure out what's going on.

    We're still trying to find the common denominator, and some information would be helpful, like:

    - Was this a fresh Win10 installation, or an upgrade from a previous OS

    - Was this a Win10 installation distributed by an OEM (built-into your Lenovo, Dell, etc)

    - Are you using a third-party security product, or are you a member of a corporate domain?
