Problems with Flash player crashing in IE and Firefox

Hello!  I have been having problems off and on with repeated crashing of Flash Player.  Generally when I have restarted my computer, the issue has been resolved.  However, I just installed the latest version of Flash Player, and I've reset it twice, and still cannot get it to work at all.  I've even gotten to this page: http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/  and it works for about 10 seconds and then consequently crashes.  Already disabled the hardware acceleration, which has not helped.  I can't get it to run at all.

My computer has a 32 bit operating system, and I'm running Windows 7.  For Firefox I have version 3.6.12 and for IE I'm running some version of 8.0.  Any assistance in this mattter would be SO helpful!!

I have this problem but only with Firefox.  Windows 7 32 bit, latest versions of Firefox and Flash Player.

The video will play for a few seconds then hang.  The only way I can get out of it is via Task Manager> End process.

I have tried disabling all add-ons and plug-ins (except, obviously, for Flash,) I have tried reinstalling both Firefox and Flash and the problem persists.

This happens on You Tube and BBC iPlayer but not on the National Archives site which uses J W Player.

Internet Explorer and Chrome work with no problem.

Hi to Tutench, You may want to review this thread since that person was having problems similar to yours.

    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/763525?tstart=0

If you haven't done so yet, you could right click on a youtube video, select Settings and then UNcheck the hardware acceleration under Display Settings. See if that is an improvement.

If none of those suggestions help, then please start a thread and it will be easier to help you. Too confusing when more than one person is on a thread:-)

Hey, my flash player is also crashing all the time in Firefox v3.6.12 using flash player 10.1.102.64

    I'm using Windows Vista 64-bit.

I can recreate the crash everytime, also tested on a lower version and there the crash does'nt happen. Do you need me to provide some data?

Is there a known bug in this version?

Hi joakim, you can follow this thread or if you want help especially for your system, etc then you may want to start a thread.

It gets a little confusing if I give you advice and the other person follows it, or vice versa, LOL  That's easy to do, because sometimes the user just reads the post and misses to whom it is for:-)

    Thanks,

Hi, thanks for providing your information. Go to C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash  Open Flash and post back the Flash files listed. The NPSWF files will need a right click and then click on Properties to obtain the version numbers.

Then using IE, go to Tools, Manage Addons. Look in the lower mid-section for "Show" (very light text). Look in All add ons and Run without Permission for Shockwave Flash Object and make sure it is Enabled.

Using FF, look for a SWF plugin and make sure it is Enabled.

    Do you use any Adblock?

Also what Anti-Virus program do you use and does it have it's own Firewall?

    Thanks,

Thank you for your help! I ended up uninstalling it and then reinstalling

it, so now it's working again. That is always my back-up plan for

programs. I've also adjusted IE and FF tools as you've suggested.

Hopefully it will keep working this time.

Thanks for the feedback. Sometimes Uninstalling and Installing does solve it, but not always. Glad it worked for you.
