Question about flash/shockwave player

New member with a couple questions and needing help. I have been having trouble getting emoticons on forums to animate (like the light bulb flashing on and off) . I then went to Control Panel/Add Remove programs and I have 3 players listed. One is Adobe Flash Player 9 active X and clicking details says it is version 9.0.16.0. I also have Macromedia Flash Player version 8.0.5.0 and Shockwave Player version 10.1.13.8 Do I need all of these??? At one time I uninstalled all the players from my computer using the uninstallers and then reinstalled but now I have too many I think. What I need to know is what do I really need to have installed once they have been uninstalled. I did the update for the flash player to version 9.0.28.0 but it isn't showing up. Is it okay to completely uninstall all 3 flash players and then just install the new 9,0.28.0 and the shockwave 10.1.3.18??? I need to do something because with what I currently have, nothing seems to be working right. I hope this makes sense to the person reading it and if you need additional information please let me know.

Thanks. I used the uninstallers for both the flash player and shockwaver player I had. Then I reinstalled both again. I now have Flash player 9.0.28.0 and Shockwave player 10.1.4.20

But when I go to view the emoticons that should be flashing they are not. Is the a ocx something I need to have???

You don't need the two flash players, just keep the latest one

Shockwave Player is a completely different thing altogether, it is NOT a
Flash Player at all, so you would keep that.
