My flash player updated last night and as a result, youtube no longer plays videos...just a black box where the video should be.

Windows 7

IE8

Latest flash - 10.3.181.34

Need some help...

Ok, here is what I found:

YouTube just updated their video player, so the old version could still be cached in your browser causing it to fail. I would suggest rebooting, and if that's already done then make sure your drivers are up to date.

If that does not work make sure you download the new version of flash.  Posted3 hours ago
No, I had the exact same problem but it worked the second I cleared my internet cache which could have to do with what another user above said about that.

Go to tools, options, clear recent history, and only check the 'cache' option, clear now, okay, and then refresh or exit it and open it again. I didn't even have to restart my browser. I'm using firefox too, by the way. Good luck! I hope this helped!  Posted 2 hours ago
Let me know if that is the issue. I'm not done searching, but that's what I found so far.

Hi, Cool! The credit for that is to the gals/guys at Yahoo answers. I just search for info fast:-) I had about 3 or 4 threads about this. Didn't have time to see if Youtube had a Sticky up or not. They should if they don't, since this is a major issue.

Thanks for marking your thread answered!!!

Hi, thanks. Well it appears something has changed on youtube's end. I just finished on another thread with the same issue you are having. I've seen this youtube issue too often in the last couple of days.

What I just advised the other person is try turning off the hardware acceleration and see if that makes a difference.

Go to this site and right click on the Flash Player logo(Red F), Settings and then turn off H.A. in Display Settings.

    http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/

I'm heading over to youtube and see if anything is posted there of any change.

    Thanks,

In IE, go to Tools, Manage addons and make sure Shockwave Flash Object is Enabled.

    Let me know.
