?reminders to install flash player

I work on a MacBook Pro.  I frequently get notices to "install Flash Player."  When I try to do that, I get a notice that a later version of this application has already been installed on my computer.  When I verified its presence by watching the clouds move on a little video that Adobe has, it shows normal function of the Flash Player.  So, How do I get these notices to stop.  I get them every day or so and they are a nuisance!  Thank you.
