shockwave crashing , freezing

I use to have trouble with shockwave   I downloaded flash

player and never had a problem after that. Now since I cant use flash player with Chrome I am crashing everytime I play my games , or the game will freeze and say shockwave plugin is not responding. I about to uninstall chrome and go back to Internet explorer which I didnt care for. I am desperate . Can anyone help. I am no expert when it comes to computers but can follow instructions.
