Shockwave Flash 16.0.0.235 keeps crashing/failing.

Every time I open any webpage in firefox, IE or even google chrome my Shockwave flash crashes. Especially in firefox. I've tried updating, uninstalling, reinstalling, clearing my cache, restarting firefox, going through every shockwave trouble shoot from resetting the shockwave cache to turning off hardware acceleration but none of it fixes the problem. I can't even open my home page without it crashing at least 3 or 4 times. Thank you for your time and help.

I've been banging my head against the wall about this for weeks. I'm in school and can't use my laptop because flash keeps crashing, and it seems almost every site uses flash. I tried uninstalling flash and my browsers, disabling, reinstalling, restarting, etc, ugh, nothing worked. I finally found this useful bit of information on the Mozilla website. I updated my Intel graphics drivers (I have an Intel based computer) and now I don't want to chuck my computer off of the bridge, flash works again! If you've been having trouble, try to update your graphics card driver!! This page has a few other ideas and also upgrade links. I really hope this helps.

Upgrade your graphics drivers to use hardware acceleration and WebGL | Firefox Help

EDIT: Ok it started crashing again. But it was still better than before.

I installed Malware-bytes and was infected with a couple of things. When I quarantined them, flash was back to normal.

Awesome, glad that you were able to find a solution.

Our video troubleshooting guide is a pretty good place to start if you're seeing a lot of instability with Flash, but it's basically the same idea:

    Video playback issues

Anyway, this is a really old thread.  It's easier to give folks personalized and timely advice, so I'm going to lock this.

If you're experiencing issues and none of the recommendations here are working, please open a new thread and we'll try to help.

The more detail you can include up-front about the problem you're having, the easier it is to give you an answer without a bunch of back-and-forth:

I spoke too soon. It worked for like 11 minutes then start crashing all over again like before!

Adobe's US offices were closed for a couple weeks over the holidays.  As stated previously, Adobe does not offer direct support for products that it offers for free.  For paid products, direct support is available, and there is an option to pay for technical support for Flash Player.

Anyway, the most likely culprit is video drivers.  There are troubleshooting instructions here:

    Video playback issues

If you're still having stability issues after disabling hardware acceleration, let me know and we'll troubleshoot further.

I'm having the exact same problem. Reverted to Flash 15, but that didn't help and now Firefox won't let me allow Flash content since it's an older version of Flash. WTF.

I am having the same problem with adobe flash on Firefox, IE, and Chrome. I have the latest version of each browser and flash player version. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling. I updated from Windows Update. I updated my HD Graphic driver and intel drivers. It all started today after I updated

rmrtn and earlterry, try what I suggested above. Uninstall Flash completely, go to the link in post #4 (Archived Flash Player versions), scroll down to "Flash Player archives" and get one of the older versions, then install that and don't let it update again!

I personally downgraded one computer to Flash v11.2.202.425 and it seems quite stable. Version 16 is utterly broken, so it's best to just avoid it.

These are community self-help forums, I doubt official Adobe employees find their way in here often, if ever.

The best suggestion I can give you is to stop using any Adobe products, for obvious reasons. Crashing is what Flash does best of all, and version 16.0.0.235 is a particularly bad offender.

Maybe you can try if downgrading Flash helps. Uninstall Flash and get version 15 from this page:

Wow thanks for the help!  The knowledge on this site is impressive.  Adobe you make the worst products ever.  Honestly the worst.  Here are some questions that you can start off by answering.  Who do you pay to work in this forum?  How did they get the job?  Did you just pick out the most illiterate people you could find?  Some suggestions...Stop making horrible products. Provide some type of help to your customers.  My dog provided me the same answer you did and she'll work for free.  Feel free to contact me to hire my dog.
