Shockwave Flash crashes when hooked up to an external monitor

Hi,

I believe I have finally pinpointed a problem with my Adobe Schockwave Flash plug-in. When I am hooked up to my external monitor and use my flash player, I receive a message saying:

"The following plug-in has crashed: Adobe Shockwave Flash"

I have no idea why this is; I have thoroughly searched for a solution to no avail.

My computer:

Alienware M11x R3

Windows 7 Standard 64-bit

Flash Version: WIN 11,0,1,152

NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M

Google Chrome 14.0.835.202m

My Monitor:

Alienware 2210

--The driver software for this is up to date.

The stranger thing is, it only crashes on Google Chrome. It doesn't crash on Internet Explorer, I do not know what kind of an issue. Does anyone know how to solve this issue? I can give any additional information if needed.

Thanks,

-Chris

    Hi Chris,

I never received any bug reference or got a response from Yan about the issue...For some reason it only crashes when it is the main screen...I have no idea why this is but I can try hooking up to other monitors once I get the chance to.

Thanks Chris.  Yan is no longer with Adobe so I'm trying to find out if she had notes (or a bug) that I can reference.  So we don't loose this again, would you mind opening a new bug on this over at bugbase.adobe.com?

Please let me know if attaching different monitors or using a different resolution helps.  Also, would you mind trying this out with hardware acceleration temporarily disabled?

How do I disable or enable hardware acceleration?

    Thanks,

    Chris

    Hi Chris,

Did Yan ever give you a bug number to reference or did you add one to bugbase.adobe.com?  I use Flash all the time connected to three monitors with an ATI card and 2 monitors with an Nvidia 470.

If this helps any, I the player only crashes on google chrome when my monitor is set as the primary screen. I can run videos on it on Expand while the monitor is a secondary screen.

I have messed around a little and discovered that If I load a video on my laptop screen, I can switch to 'projector only' and run it on my monitor fine. This is a way to avoid the problem, but once in a while it will still crash after some time.

Thank you all for these information. I'm trying to reproduce it my side. Will get back later.

    Hi Chris,

Did you see the problem in earlier version of flash player, like 10.3.183.10?

    Thanks,

    Yan

    Yan,

I am not aware, I have been using the new versions of flash since around June, 15th 2011, nothing before then. And I have always had problems. The player crashes for videos (youtube, etc), not a music player such as Pandora. This may have something to do with the problem.
