Question

"Shockwave Flash" error

My browser freezes many times an hour. This happens at work under Windows 7. This happens at home with Windows 8. It happens all over the web. It happens with Firefox, Chrome and IE. I have the latest version of all software installed. The Windows 8 box is brand new and the Adobe products are a few of the first things I installed.

The message is always in a pop-up box "Shockwave Flash may be busy, or it may have stopped responding. You can stop the plugin now, or you can continue to see if the plugin will complete." Most times I get Continue or Stop Plugin buttons... occasionally I see a button to debug the code.

Why does this happen everywhere regardless of PC, browser, and operating systems?

I posted this on the Shockwave forum and was told this is a Flash issue!

Thanks....

Paul

The dialog you're describing is the Slow Script dialog.  Flash Player ultimately plays code that other people wrote.  When we see that the player is taking an inordinate amount of CPU time, we throw the dialogs so that we don't make your machine unresponsive.

If there's a consistently reproducible set of steps that causes this dialog to be thrown, I'd be happy to take a look to see if there's something we can do.

I'd also be curious about the output of chrome://gpu on Chrome.

It looks like you're in good shape, but it's totally possible for developers to write really inefficient Flash.  If you want to give me a couple links that reproduce the problem, I'd be happy to take a look.
