Shockwave plug-in isn't responding

Help!  In all of my browsers (as of yesterday), I'm getting "A plug-in (Shockwave Flash) isn't responding" and the screen freezes up and I'm basically unable to sign into my work site.  When I disable the plug-in, I still can't use my work site. 

My computer is 5 months old.  HP Spectre.

How do I fix this?
