Shockwaves plugin disabled pop-up box

My wife's laptop had just started to have a Shockwave Plugin disabled 'orange' pop- up box appear whilst trying to play FarmVille.

I cannot get Flash to work?

As it only happened yesterday, I have tried system restore in Windows and got an error. Tried again in safe mode and it said it had restored, but the Pop-up box is still there?

We have version 18.0.0.203, with only one instance of plugins - we are using Google Chrime browser.

we have cleared the cache etc...

Please can anyone help to stop the pop- up box and get shockwave plugin to work again.
