Silent install of Adobe Flash Player 16 .exe and .msi on Windows 8.1 x64 failing

I have tried to install from SCCM and through elevated (administrator) command line without success.

Install commands I have tried are:

  • install_flash_player_16.0.0.235_active_x.exe -install -au 2
  • install_flash_player_16.0.0.235_active_x.exe -install
  • msiexec /i \\servername\Adobe\Flash\install_flash_player_16_active_x_IE.msi /qn

All have failed.  I just realized that Windows 8.1 IE comes with an older version of flash.  How do I get it to update?

Below is the FlashInstall log, but I'm not able to figure out the issue.  Any help would be appreciated.

Correct answer

You need to update it with Windows Update. You can also go to: Flash Player Issues | Windows 8

and at the bottom grab the KB, however I've had much better luck using Windows update than I have with the KB alone.
