Something conflicting with Adobe Flash that won't  allow email attachments in gmail

I have been  speaking with senior techs in the google forum, and they suggested I  post here.  There is something about my computer settings or security  software is  conflicting with Adobe Flash.

I did a clean install of both Flash  10 and Firefox 3.5.7 (I uninstalled the previous versions).

The problem  is with gmail.  I get the error message when  attaching files:
"Attachment  failed. This may be due to a proxy or  firewall."

Any ideas???

Using  Firefox 3.5.7
Using MAC  OS 10.4.11

Using Flash 10

I do not  have security software, proxy or firewall settings.

I started a  question in these forums:

i didn't know what was the cause but from here i understand that the problem is with flash player.

but here is what i did and it worked:

first i uninstalled the previous flash player,

i downloaded microsoft silverlight from microsoft site and install it

and install the flash player again and the problem is gone.

hope it works for you too.

Please explain in detail what infomation you have, that led you to believe that Flash is the issue?

Does the issue resolve when using Safari on the same machine?

I was told to post in the Flash forums by senior techs in the google/gmail forums.  They cannot figure out why I am having this crazy attachment error on gmail's advanced attachment option.  They say it seems Flash related, evn though I un-installed Flash and did a clean install of Flash again.

Posted in Firefox forums without much success.

Safari on the same machine does not have the issue.

Does the gmail advance attachOpt GUI on their site use flash in some way, or some flash interactivity in that mode that it does not in basic?

I presume you are trying to attach files of allowed types onto the server, have you confirmed and does gmail allow the file type and size you are trying to upload/attach?

If gmail uses flash somehow then try checking your Flash Global settings, check to see if "Deny All" is checked, change it to "Ask Me" and or make sure you allow flash to use active x to access your drive and specifically in the flash settings you can add local file paths to allow, so in essence you can choose a folder path that will allow flash to access that folder on your drive, or trust it to get the file being called by gmails server either though the "browse" or "attach" functions. If they use flash.

Have you unistalled and reinstalled Firefox as well as flash?

What type of internet connection do you have, private or corporate internet access? Have you checked your ISP security settings, especially if you're using a secure wireless router. You may need to create exceptions on your user control panel for your network, or allow active content, or allow internet calls to go through the network to your drive.
