Sound but no Video on Firefox / IE8

Evening folks

,

I think a recent update seems to have knocked my flash out of action on certain websites and I'd really like some advice.

I've removed every version I have (the up to date 10.1) and reinstalled several times, and have also completely removed firefox to see if its an add on that's affecting it.

I've tried closing all firewalls and all pop ups I can find. Basically short of ideas now.

I can see videos on youtube, I can see content on the bbc i player but can't play and videos on its sports content on its site. Espn videos work, but IGN ones don't.

It seems very random and I don't understand.

Any help appreciated, and thanks in advance for any advice

Hi, I think the best thing to do is see what Flash Player files are actually Installed. You didn't say what your operating system is or whether it is a 64bit system. Please post that info back.

    Thanks,

Looking through these forums you deserve some kind of medal my friend!

    I'm on the 32 bit

As for files, where would I find that?

Hi, Thanks, I do try:-) Our other helper Pat, does the same, if not more. You forgot to tell me what operating system you are using, so just include that info on your next post.

Go to C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash   Open the Flash folder and post back all files listed there. The NPSWF needs a right click and then click on Properties to obtain the version number.

Using IE, go to Tools, Manage add ons and Toolbars & Extensions. You should see Show all add ons. You will be looking for Shockwave Flash Object..ActiveX Control...Flash10h.ocx and make sure it is Enabled.

Using FF(Firefox) find the SWF vs 10.1.53.64 plug-in and make sure it is Enabled.

    Thanks,
