Sound quit in Flash on OS X

I had been using Flash in all of my browsers on my iMac with no problems, when suddenly I got no sound on YouTube. A few checks showed that I now have no sound in Flash on any of my four browsers with any flash content. I've deleted, reinstalled, and tried every setting that I can find. No dice.

Since Mac has no registry, the registry fixes posted recently don't work. Does anyone have any OS X fixes?

    Found it!!!!

It was in the Apple support forums; it was a bit hard to find, but it works.

Some software installations reset the sampling rate for audio output to a rate higher than is compatible with flash player. Here's the fix:

Go to the Applications folder and then into the Utilities folder (shortcut in the Finder Command-Shift-u). Open Audio MIDI Setup. Change the output bitrate to 48K or 44.1K. Mine had somehow been set to 98K. After changing it to a lower rate, sound works just fine.

Again, this is a Mac OS X topic only.

Thanks, El Gonzo! I never would have figured that out on my own.
