I get a pop up screen in Google Chrome everyday.  It is a yellow triangle with and exclimation mark in it.  It says to update my media player click here to continue.  I get them all the time, everyday for the last 3 months.  They have came from several different web addresses but the most common one is from

Is this safe?  It brings me to the Adobe Flash Player download page.  Now I have this through Chrome.  Why does it keep sending me this and any way to make it stop.  Since this issue my pdf files through adobe no longer want to open in my email.  Norton shows no viruses so I have no idea what is going on. Any help would be greatly appreciated.  And yes all my adobe programs are up to date on all the updates.

It took a while but I finally found a way to get rid of the virus. My computer was sooo infected. http://malwaretips.com/blogs/malware-removal-guide-for-windows/ Follow the steps on this page & your computer will be cleaned. It took all day for me to work through it but it has worked so far. There are several different downloads & they are all free.

I had the same problem. Multi-tasking can leave you vulnerable when a situation requires your full attention. When I was booting up I quick scanned and clicked for a update and something did feel strange about it. Some of these updates come with trial offers for all kinds of things and I've been batting a thousand so far in unchecking the camouflaged offers. I didn't think much of it until a day or so later, as you said, I left the browser open for a couple hours which I normally never do and I see I have a 'Please update media player' with a big yellow 'UPDATE' in the middle of the page. Oh oh! I have McAfee running actively and decided to run a full scan and it didn't pick up the malware. Googled 'Update Media Player' and got a lot of hits. One web site suggested to open add/remove programs in control panel and go through everything that you don't recognize. In my case I found a program called 'Yantoo' or something close to that, I've removed this program and haven't had a recurrence of this screen, so far, a couple of days. By the way I was in Firefox when I got this screen. I had a Verizon technician replacing a router and DVR and he opened the Chrome browser that I have on my desk top but never use. I don't know what if anything that might have to do with it I just saying.

I am having the same problem. Does anyone know how to get rid of it?

No idea yet, but I get it even when Chrome isn't open.  It will just suddenly pop up.  I was suspicious the first time I saw it, but scans in both Norton and Malwarebytes have so far turned up nothing.  However I am pretty certain I'm dealing with malware that already resides on my machine.    How it got there, I don't know.  I did install an old drive I had a while back to pick some files off of it so I'm scanning it too.

Having only two w's, it looks to me like a subdomain with the intent of misleading you.  Definitely I would not click on it.  I'm still researching.  If I find an answer, I'll post it here.

I have the same popup. I got 3 adobe update dialogs today and I kept clicking it before I got suspicious. I'm regretting that now, since it's probably malware...

As a rule: NEVER EVER download a Flash Player update from ANYWHERE OTHER THAN THIS SITE.

There are far too many "fake" updates out there.

That link you provided is missing a "w" in the www and when I added it, it went to a domain parking space. DEFINITELY nothing you'd need Flash Player (or any update) to see.
