"Successful" Flash Player 11 Mac Installation Not Recognized

There have been repeated "successful" installations of Flash Player 11.7.700.225 on an Intel Mac 10.7.5 with Safari 6.0.5 today, but the Adobe Web site and others indicate there is no Flash Player present. Whats's wrong?

I have the same with Safari 6.0.5 and OSX 10.8.4. Flash is working in Firefox and Opera.
