Question

Support for high resolution displays?

Greetings -

When will Flash start supporting high resolution displays?  We use Adobe Connect A LOT and our VP has a Lenovo Yoga 2 hybrid laptop (http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/lenovo/yoga-laptop-series/yoga-laptop-2-pro/) that has a high resolution display (some 3,000+ pixels).  To date, he can NOT use Adobe Connect because it won't read and recognize the high resolution display he has and scale the room and text accordingly, so all the menus, text, note, chat pods, etc. all show up as super small text that's practically unusable/unreadable.  We've inquired with both Lenovo support and Adobe Connect support about the issue over the years and to date everyone is blaming the other party.  What it seems to boil down to is Flash - since Connect runs on and uses Flash a lot, how and when can we get support for high resolution displays incorporated?

(as in the text is too small!)

Best,

- Rick

Hi Rick,

What browser is he seeing this occur with?  We're trying to get this all sorted out, but unfortunately it does take coordination with the browser (and OS) vendors.  From what I've seen, this sounds like he's using Firefox.  IE, should scale (reportedly, sometimes too big) and Chrome should also work (just right?).  Would be great to get your feedback which browsers you've used, what browser zoom level is being used, and what display DPI setting has been selected at the OS level.

Thanks,

Chris

Hello Chris,

Please excuse me if I interject, I may have some metrics for you here.

We're running some connect sessions on Surface Pro 3 Tablets on win8.1 and win10. Their resolution is 2160*1440. I can confirm that chrome and edge work when no add-in is used, looking the correct size but rather pixelated due to the non-hd-interface.

However, the add-in itself does not scale. The os-scaling setting has no effect on the add-in display size. Since numerous essential features like screen sharing only work with the add-in running, Connect remains very difficult to use on high-resolution displays. Short of manually changing display resolution and having users run a session with the ?launcher=false flag there seems to be nothing possible to alleviate the need to use a magnifying glass.

We've first encountered the issue more than one year ago. In light of the spreading of 2k and 4k resolution devices: is there any eta for an add-in properly supporting high-resolution displays?

Warm regards
Roman
