Question

suspicious update popup for flash player

I keep getting a suspicious pop-up that is supposed to be from Adobe saying my flash player needs to be updated.  This occurs even if I just updated it through the official Adobe site.  Even the address is suspicious:  autoupdate.advs.now.com.  This is not from Adobe.....How can I block it.  How can we warn others about this probable trojan?

Hi dhubhgaill@aol.com,

Providing the same information @fallguy12 provided is very helpful and will enable us to forward this to the legal/fraud department to follow-up on.

I just received something similar.  The web address is bogus, but it looked initially like a legit Flash update alert from Adobe.  The file downloaded without issue, but the file was only called 'flashplayer.exe', and looking in the details of the file, language is Saudi Arabia, and original name for the file is fraps.exe.  Web address in my address bar (DO NOT CLICK IT!):  https://wohchnuffnang.com/2131237557548/4cee44ea3deaa6a5931ad6fbc77bc865.html

Adobe needs to try to stop this.  I almost fell for it.

hey, thanks for the links.  I ended up reporting it to the phishing department (via their email), as my situation didn't fit other categories.  I tried looking for the links you provided, but couldn't find them.  Again, thanks for providing them.
