Question

Swf dynamic texts turn from horizontal to expanding vertical text

Just to be sure, as I don't know what causes the problem, I also posted this message in the Flash Pro forum. Sorry if I break any rules doing this...

I've got a two year old site in actionscript 2 (ww.pantelco.be/coaching.html) and something odd happened today. I had to change something in the fla, tested the swf and uploaded it to the server. When I test the swf in flash or just open it manually, all is fine, texts are okay.

But whenever it's in a htmlpage (using swfobject), all the multiline textfields turn from horizontal to vertical expanding text, so a large column of 1 character.

Even my backup site acts the same way. It's driving me crazy. And my client.

I installed a couple of new browsers a couple of days ago, and I remember I had to update my flashplayer. Maybe this is relevant? I just don't know.

Texts are loaded through xmls - well, they load alright, but they don't show up the right way.

Anybody?

Thanks in advance

    Relief - well sort of.

I uninstalled the last Flash version (that I downloaded a couple of days ago) on all my browsers.

Then I downloaded the older 10.2 and installed, and the problem was gone. I'm on MacOSX Lion, by the way.

So this must be a bug in the last flashplayer.

Cost me five hours and a bucket of sweat.

And from now on, I'll be pretty scared to give the flashplayer an update, that's a fact.

If the website that shows the problem is public, then reverting your FP version is not the solution.  What about your visitors?

Anyway, the issue is a known one, see https://bugbase.adobe.com/index.cfm?event=bug&id=2941694 - I haven't checked if there are any fixes or workarounds in that bug report.

A new version of the player was released last night that should address this issue.  For additional details, please see the following post:

    Flash Player 10.3.183.7 Released

    Thanks,
