Testing which version of Flash Player is installed

...since i seem to be having similar issues, and am on a similar system (Win7, Firefox 4),  maybe I can compare my issues here?  [also, these specs:  test pages says Flash version IS installed, version WIN 10,2,153,1.  Machine is:  Win7 64 bit; 2 G Ram; Intel  core 2 Duo processor; home-built machine with Asus motherboard].

"Not to say" that I, especially as a new participant here on this forum, necessarily expect any answering; but if nothing else, as further general info/report of things that are happeningk maybe it will be somehow conceivable interest .

The way my issues seem similar in the overall, is that false or confusing messages seem to keep coming up, and although on the test page I do get the revolving adobe, and a listing of the version (as listed above), I no longer have the flash logo listed in my applications.  not everything needing Flash, any longer works (after my recent attempts to upgrade to the latest flash versions), in that some other applications i"ve added such as video capture , have stopped working and say it is a Flash problem.

when i try to  do a search on the machine, entering the word, "flash" (without quotations), i get some listings of some entertainment video files I happen to have downloaded in the past, and otherwise just one result saying "Install Adobe Flash" and another, "Uninstall Adobe Flash."

When i open either the adobe files, the install or uninstall, I get a  (false) message that this cannot be done because Fireox is running (which it isn't) and needs to be closed.

As sort of a last ditch effort toward getting Flash fully running,I did do or try to do one more thing today: tried to clear the decks of existing Flash files, (for the sake of updating with new files) by running Revo Uninstaller, which at first, brought up the existing Flash Uninstall facility, which as before, said it couldn't function due to Firefox needing to be closed.  Then, I tried to do more uninstalling through Revo, which seemed to say that it did , by itself, uninstall Flash, and after which the  Flash logo in Programs, disappeared...but after which I was at the point reported  at the beginning here (and which seems still to remain the case):  not much evidence on the machine, of Flash being present or running...but the Adobe page still reports that (in effect) today's update "before" all my would-be uninstalling, "did" succeed, and Flash 10,2,153,1 "is" installed.

Again, my main reason for following the Adobe prompts today to update, is that I remembered that some of my other applications needing flash, had stopped working.

KInd of wondering (maybe pretty wildly) whether maybe other software that "are" the machine ( like either Silverlight or GOM player)may have taken over or something at running Flash content?  If that's actually possible.

It will provide you all the information whether you can play the videos on to the website or not .

By the way, this page in the Flash Player Help section says, "To check which version of Flash Player you are   running, go to the Flash Player home page."  Of course, this link leads to the page which is no longer there, as noted in my first post above.
