The green screen is gone but the videos won't play at all now

I recently got a new laptop and it came with Adobe Flash installed. When I try to watch a video I would only get a green screen so I followed instructions and went to the tools and settings menu and did the manage add ons. The green screen is gone but now the videos won't play. Some say I need to download Adobe Flash even though I already have it.
