The situation with Flash Player: What do we know?

As for my Flash Player, it's broken down. I've tried to re-install it after my Flash Player 10 stopped working, but it doesn't show the yellow "Active X Install" bar at the top of the browser window.

Now, I know people have had this problem too. So, instead of pointing fingers or making threats and accusations, let's put our heads together and come up with what we DO know about what's going on.

Here is what most of us already know~

The problem(s):

~Almost all versions of Flash Player are not avalible for download in most forms of browsers if the program has already stopped working on your computer. (That's what a lot of people are saying, not everyone is having a problem with downloading another version of Flash Player, or re-installing the current version.)

~~The trouble-shooting program (http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/) provided by Adobe in the Flash Player Support doesn't usually help.

~~~Rebooting doesn't help.
~~~~Re-installing the browser doesn't usually help.

The possible solutions:

~This link provided by Pat Willener in the "my adobeflasher is not working anymore and when i try to download it will not download" thread, is claimed to have helped: http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player_ax .exe

~~(Anything else is to be discussed)

The purpose of this thread is to answer eachother's questions by comparing experiences. Don't go accusing or complaining the people of Adobe or others on this thread.

We need to make a comprehensive list of what works, and what doesn't, so that we can fix this problem ourselves, or with the help of Adobe's Customer Support Team.

Now remember: just because it is said to not work here, don't stop trying anything on this list, and everything you can to restore your Flash Player Program's service to your computer.

Any and all opinions are welcome and encouraged, they just have to be backed up with what you know.

    I really wish I could be of help but I haven't had success at all with Flashplayer. Apparently its installed but is invisible and unusable on my imac. Was hoping 4 answers here? Obviously its a widely used program...I am fine figuring out every other software program from Final cut, to Photoshop and able to use dreamweaver etc.... With SO many problems Adobe should listen up!

    What do I know? I know nothing about Adobe Flashplayer because no version of it will open on my new imac.

    Well, you should try and "search" your computer for the program.

    Do you know how to "search" programs and files? If you do, then just type in the name of the program, or the first word, or any word related to it, and it will display all files, programs, and other things related to it.

    If it is installed on your computer, then it should show up on the list that it displays. All you have to do is click the program's name, and that should access it.

    However, you have another type of computer then I do. I've worked with macs before, and the Flash Player program should DEFINTELY have worked on your computer, macs being a graphics-oriented brand, however, it seems you have the same problem as many people do.

    A lot of people are having problems, and I'm glad you brought up the subject of cross-computer problems. Now we know that Macs are subject to this problem as well as Windows-run computers.

    I'm sorry I can't help you more, but if you find out anything more, please list it in this forum.
