Too frequent notification of Flash Player updates, or someone other than Adobe

Question

On my MacBook Pro, with macOS 10.12.3 (16D32), Sierra, I recently tried registering for an Electronic Design webinar, and was notified that the current version of Adobe Flash Player was required. I went to the Adobe website, found the Flash Player, downloaded it for Firefox. Minutes later, I'm notified that a new version of Flash Player is available. I'm skeptical, since something similar happened weeks ago, and the Apple Store told me something was wrong. My system info says that

"NPAPI Plug-in version 24.0.0.221 is installed." and "PPAPI Plug-in version 24.0.0.194 is installed." Is this normal? Are daily updates being offered?

Flash Player notification updates will check once every 7 days, by default, unless the user modifies the setting. You do have the latest version of the NPAPI plugin (used by Firefox and Safari), however, the PPAPI plugin (used by Opera and Chromium-based browsers) is out-of-date. Note that if you are using Firefox/Safari you will not be notified to update the PPAPI plugin and vice versa. The notification is only for the browser in use.

If the system is configured for background updates, the 'Remind me later' button will not display.

If the notification you received did not look like this, it is not official and most likely an attempt to download a malicious Flash Player installer. If you have the URL of the page that displayed the unofficial notification, please send it to phishing@adobe.com.
