trouble installing Flash

Tried downloading Flash from Adobe website, it gets about half way through the installationa and then errors out giving me the message that "Note: Never version already installed"

But it isn't, I can't play any web content that requires Flash - they all tell me to click on the button to install Flash - which I do, and it always ends in the same error message.

Help!
