Trouble installing Flash Player

I am using Windows Vista system, Foxfire browser.  I have tired several times to download the lastest version of Flash Player with no success.  I keep getting error message "Newer version of Flash Player already installed.  Based in information in the "help" section, I uninstalled the existing version of Flash Player.  I continue to get the same error message even though no version is installed.  I have turned off the security system in case it was preventing the installation.
